To Be Or What To Be

To Be or What To Be begins with Frank having misplaced his magician’s hat. A search ensues and Frank looks for it in his magic hat box. Hat after hat is produced out of this seemingly empty box but none of these are his magician’s hat. What is a magician to do without his magic hat?

The staff and students thoroughly enjoyed this show. They appreciated the messages and were entertained. Terrific! All ages loved it.

Wake Up And Read

Wake Up and Read is a funny, well paced comedy incorporating music, drama, mime, puppetry, magic and circus skills all linked with short charming tales about growing up in Australia. Each tale is another piece in the puzzle of how Frank, the son of an illiterate Italian migrant, became an avid reader and came to do what he does today. Students hear the stories behind the comedian as Frank takes us back to those moments that have shaped his life. We share his parents’ surprise when he first announces that theatre is the job for him. Another story tells how a playground bullying incident led to a lasting friendship with a fellow student who told him that he could find much of the information he would need for his new career, in books from the school library.

The program was most entertaining. A balance of magic, singing, puppets and theatre. My class described the show as ‘awesome’. Beneath the magic and puppets etc. was the clear message that reading is cool and people who read gain many different experiences. The performer was most entertaining and had the kids discussing how the tricks were done. He showed great diversity with singing, magic, puppets, humour and storytelling.
