“Lord, what fools these mortals be!”
Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the original romantic comedy. Two guys, two girls, a crazy night in the woods and a couple of disgruntled fairies.
Who can’t relate to love turning them into an ass?
This production is uniquely set in Sydney. The four lovers, being four country kids in the big smoke for the weekend, are well out of their comfort zone, lost in the magical world of Saturday night on the streets and in the venues that are the stages of Sydney’s night life.
There will be laughter; there will be tears and men in dresses just like in Shakespeare’s day.
Director, Elizabeth Ruth Ross-Ward’s passion is making Shakespeare accessible to everyone. Since completing her honours degree in history and theatre, Elizabeth has been working in the professional theatre world for the past eight years including two years in England seeking out all things Shakespeare.
