It's A Mad World

Per Westman presents two very different characters. Firstly the stagehand - a simple man, shy and out of place, who is forced onto the stage where he confronts his nerves and nerdiness to triumph over all his fears. Secondly the star - cool, calm and confident, ‘the consummate professional’, he craves the adoration of the audience and knows exactly how to get it!

We have about 120 students at our school with varying disabilities. The students range from 5 years to 18 years. We received excellent feedback from the students and the staff also enjoyed the performance.

Australian Folklore

Using story, music, a vast array of props and audience participation from start to finish, Gerard Cafe brings Australia’s folklore to life. There is didgeridoo playing, sing-a-longs to some Australian classics and even a chance for students to test their sheep shearing skills. Not with real sheep of course but these stuffed jumbucks prove just as feisty as the real thing.

Excellent Show – very informative and entertaining. Kept students’ attention – very good singing, dramatization of stories and poems – good range of activities. Content was informative to all levels. Terrific show.

To Federation and Beyond

This engaging combination of music, participation and stories all presented with a wonderful array of costumes, sets and props - is a great way to both entertain and tweak children's interest in Australian history. To Federation and Beyond is a number of gripping tales of Australia from pre-colonization, convicts, battlers to our current bush fire fighters and surf lifesavers.

To Federation and Beyond was cleverly contrived. The show held the students attention and they learned new historical detail in a very entertaining fashion. Mr Cafe was courteous, punctual and efficient with regards to setting up and packing away the set. He was highly entertaining and the children responded enthusiastically.

Shekere Beats

Shekere “pronounced She-Ka-Re” is the name of the African percussion instrument made from the dried fruit of the gourd vine and loosely covered with a wide decorative band of beads. The sound is produced by holding the outer cover of beads in one hand and twisting the gourd across them or simply shaking the entire instrument.

Performer was able to keep students entertained throughout the entire session. Loads of interaction which the children enjoyed. Good introduction and finished on time. I would highly recommend Jonas. Students feedback “The best drumming performance we’ve seen!”
