This exciting production of Shakespeare’s classic
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
saddles the realms of fantasy and reality.

Its plotlines are many, its characters diverse and conflicting, ranging from the benevolent to the outright sinister but its main struggle is between teenage lovers and cultural traditions.

While today’s language has changed, the teenage struggles and conflicts to rebel, fit in, please parents but remain true to themselves and party while staying out of trouble, have been going on for centuries.

This is a visual, energetic, thought provoking re-dreaming of a Shakespearean classic that is designed to have the teenage audience thinking “Lord, what fools these mortals be!”

A timeless tale for today’s teenagers.

Producer / Director - Alex Robson

After studying theatre at the University of New England, Alex co-founded a theatre company with a strong focus on youth engagement with the arts. Working as a producer, director, actor and playwright, he staged numerous productions, including three works by Shakespeare. In 2014, he devised A Short Guide to Shakespeare to celebrate the Bard’s 450th birthday, which he then took on a tour across the state. In 2016, still just as obsessed, he devised Shakespeare’s Villains: Everyone But Iago, to commemorate the 400th anniversary of his death. That same year he won an international scholarship to study Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. He is delighted to be sharing his obsession with Shakespeare with you and your students.
