Teachers' Notes

Munch Crunch Move

Facts about the show to discuss with the students after the performance.

The instrument that Steve plays during the show is called a Mandola.  It is basically a big Mandolin.

Discuss with students why puppets where used in the show.  Do they add to the visual effect? Help to bring the character to life? How would the show have been different if the two performers had played all the characters themselves?  There were only two performers but with the puppets being used at times there were more than 2 characters on stage at the same time.  The performers also sang and danced, so what would you call the performance?  Was it a Musical, a play or a puppet show or was it all three?

If you would like to make puppets or learn more about them look at our pages

The Food Pyramid
Draw a pyramid on the board and write in the main food groups as shown below (but leaving lots of room to write in the names of the actual foods).  Explain that those foods at the bottom of the Pyramid (in the largest space) are the foods that we should eat the most of.  The smaller the space on the pyramid, the less of those foods we should eat.
Now get the class to name a food and then work out in which group it should go.  Remember that with a meal like spaghetti and meat balls the spaghetti needs to go in the pasta at the bottom and the meat balls in with meat.  With a Cornetto ice cream the chocolate would go in the sugar, fats and oil and the ice cream would go in with animal products.
