Book Workshop

This is an Everyone On Their Bike Workshop!

Encouraging children to practise, persevere and perfect.

In a brief but thrilling demonstrational display, Scott Hone shows children just a small fraction of what he can do on his BMX bike. Almost everybody has ridden a bike but very few can ride a bike like Scott. Backwards on the front wheel - Frontwards on the back wheel - Frontwards on the front wheel - Backwards and yes, upside-down. As he demonstrates, Scott tells children the story of how, when he was given his first BMX bike, he asked, “Is there another way to ride it?” His quest to answer this simple question lead him to first join the Circus, then tour the world doing BMX tricks on stage in front of thousands.

This vignette of Scott’s BMX skills is followed by the Workshop in which Scott covers:-

  • Mounting and dismounting
  • Correct riding position
  • Riding in a straight line
  • Slow riding and balance
  • Riding around obstacles
  • Tight cornering including U turns
  • Precision braking
  • Emergency braking
  • Scanning to the rear
  • Lifting up front wheel
  • Riding along a narrow plank of wood
  • One handed riding and hand signals

Scott also demonstrates important safety issues like:-

  • Correct helmet fit
  • Bike safety inspection
  • Riding up and down hills
  • Bike maintenance tips
