Imaginative – Interactive - Storytelling

With circus skills, songs, dances and loads of audience participation Ayla takes her young audience on a fun, informative journey as they learn about their Australian home.

Young Ayla is an adventurous dreamer who dreams of being a sailor. With her vivid imagination and her trusty cardboard box, Ayla is ready to take on the world. It’s one country at a time and first on her list, Australia. This girl has places to go, wonderments to discover and special places to see as she sets off to visit Australia's national landmarks and experience its cultural identity.

On Ayla’s itinerary are the Sydney Opera House, Parliament House, Uluru and The Great Barrier Reef but she soon discovers that she can’t travel to all those places by boat.

In order to explore the different landscapes, wildlife and history of these special places, her trusty cardboard box will need to transform into different modes of transport. Together with the children Ayla will determine what transport she’ll need to reach each destination and what makes boats sail, airplanes fly and what shape wheels to use on her bus.

Ayla the sailor is an interactive show that uses effective visuals to encourage imaginative play. With simple props and the power of imagination children are transported into a world where colourful scarves become giant sails, a cardboard box transforms from a boat into a plane and glowing hoola hoops morph into a vibrant playground under the sea.

Ayla the Sailor’s engaging interactive style encourages children to use their endless imagination and found objects in their learning and play.
