Wild Feelings explores the lives of two very different birds. Using laugh out loud comedy, eye catching physical theatre and strong narrative, the story of these two birds, with their vastly different characteristics is told in a way that complements the curriculum areas of both Health and Science as well as tying in well with this year’s Book Week theme.

2025 Book Week Theme 'Book An Adventure':-The crazy adventurous Bar-Tailed Godwit bird takes a 30,000 Kilometre flight each year to visit Korea, China, Japan and Alaska before returning home just to fatten itself up to do it all again next year. Now that’s an adventure. Wild Feeling contrasts this to the completely different adventure of the New Holland Honeyeater. She dedicates herself to raising up to three broods of chicks each year without having to leave Australia.

Science:- We journey across the world with the Bar-Tailed Godwit and learn about their adventures and environmental challenges. ‘Wild Feelings’ examines the life cycles of both these birds, their interaction with other creatures including predators, the threats to their habitats, and the impacts, both positive and negative that humans have on their lives.

Health:- After diving deeply into the strong emotions of the jealous New Holland Honeyeater, students surface with a greater understanding of the complexity of friendships and multiple ways to process and resolve uncomfortable feelings and conflicts.

Co Theatre Physical blends story, vivid characters, physical theatre and comedy into a seamless, fifty minutes of memorable theatre.

Wild Feelings is a winner of the 2023 'Plays for the Young' competition at Playmarket NZ.
